In partnership with Lightwell Survey Wines, bloom Restaurant & Wine Bar and the Monticello Wine Trail, The Virginia Wine Detour brings together some of Virginia’s most exciting winemakers and exceptional food at a newly restored mid-century modern lodge.

The package combines a two-night stay at Colony House with a Friday poolside cookout and wine tastings, a Saturday reception followed by a four-course wine-pairing dinner on the lawn. Enjoy great wine and food, hang out with winemakers and fellow enthusiasts and spend the perfect early fall weekend in the Blue Ridge Mountains during Virginia Wine Month.

Participating winemakers include Kirsty Harmon from Blenheim Vineyards, Emily Hodson from Veritas and Flying Fox Vineyard, Sebastian Zutant from Lightwell Survey and Damien Blanchon from Afton Mountain Vineyards

Packages for the weekend begin at $785 (two nights at the hotel + 1 ticket for weekend food and wine events) and $250 for each additional participant in your room.

Friday | arrive & Settle In

Check in, drop your bags and start the weekend with a welcome toast before heading poolside.

Saturday | HANG OUT & Discover Roanoke

Start the morning with coffee and a light breakfast then choose your own adventure
Optional winemaker lunch at Dorothy & Frank’s featuring a MWT winemaker (additional cost)
Virginia winemaker conversation and additional tastings (details to come)

4 pm – 6 pm Poolside wine reception opens featuring tastings and wine from Monticello Wine Trail and Lightwell Survey

Saturday NIGHT | The main event

6 pm – 9 pm An exclusive four-course dinner with Chef Nate Sloan from bloom paired with wines from Lightwell Survey and other featured Virginia producers from the MWT

Sunday | sleep in & check out late

Grab fresh coffee and breakfast from a local food truck and enjoy one last morning at Colony House before heading home.
